On-Demand Data Capture and Communication

For on-demand data capture and real-time communication, whether indoors or outdoors, day or night and regardless of the environment or task at hand, the Casio IT-800 series offers a wireless communication technology to match your requirement.

High speed 3G WWAN (HSDPA), WLAN (IEEE802.11b/g) and Bluetooth are supported as well as mobile phone capability using the GSM network. In addition, all models of the IT-800 come with an integrated contactless smart card reader/writer. These combinations of technologies really do make the IT-800 the ultimate industrial PDA for use in most business applications.

Casio Original Impact Resistant LCD Display

The IT-800 is fitted with the very latest Casio “Blanview®” LCD technology.

This Casio original development features a number of technical breakthroughs in LCD design that give it industry-leading brightness and contrast ratio. Text and images on the screen are highly visible in all lighting conditions, including strong sunlight. In addition, the Casio LCD consumes far less power than conventional designs and this translates into a much enhanced battery life for the device as whole. The display has been designed to incorporate a shock-absorbing material between the touch panel and LCD and this can absorb considerable impacts to any part of the surface of the panel resulting in far less damage and breakages than with conventional screens.

Contactless Smart Card Reader/Writer

Contactless smart card reader/writer with NFC (Near Field Communication) technology is a short range wireless communication technology for data exchange. Typically used for passenger transport ticketing and ID or membership cards it provides a robust and secure method for users and customers to interact with a handheld device.

All models of the IT-800 series have integrated contactless smart card reader/writer compliant with ISO14443 Type A/Type B cards and compatible with FeliCa technology. Applications such as secure user login or access control and passenger ticket inspection are just some of the possible uses.

GPS Functionality

The highly sensitive GPS transceiver integrated in all WWAN models of the IT-800 series enables real-time location based applications to be developed.

Such benefits as more efficient routing of logistics, post, retail or indeed any field based workers can lead to significant savings in fuel and labor costs.

Furthermore, the GPS tagging of work-flow events such as the delivery of a parcel or the capturing of an image for evidence purposes offer increased traceability within your solutions and to improvements in customer service.

Superb Scanning Capability

The IT-800 offers a wide choice of scanning capabilities to meet various customer requirements. It is available with a fast, accurate laser scanner for applications where only 1D barcodes need to be read but there are also models available with C-MOS imager for reading both 1D and 2D symbologies. Whichever scanning technology is used, there are a variety of features for achieving optimum reading performance in all working environments. These include an improved decode engine and enhanced hardware performance including a high speed CPU and large RAM capacity.

Maximum Toughness in Harsh Conditions

Casio design and manufacture handheld terminals to deliver outstanding performance in all kinds of environments including those where rough handling is likely.

The IT-800 has been designed to deliver maximum toughness and durability and this is rigorously tested in a series of environmental tests during the development phase. It is dust and water splash-proof to IP54 level (compliant with the IEC60529 standard), shock-resistant against drops to concrete from a height of up to 1.5 meters and vibration tested up to 3G in line with relevant international standards. The display panel is subjected to an impact durability test that involves a 530g steel ball being dropped onto it from a height of 25cm. The IT-800 will operate in temperatures between -20°C and +50°C.

Human-Centered Design

With its stylish and ergonomic design and a weight of only 340g for the fully-featured model, the IT-800 can comfortably fit into a pocket. The keypad has been carefully designed to be compact yet easy to use with the most commonly used keys all within easy reach of the user’s thumb. There are four color coded function keys (F1 to F4), separated slightly from the main keys, and three trigger keys allowing the device to be easily used in either hand. The ergonomics of the device are all the result of actual testing and development in accordance with the internationally recognized ISO13407 standard.

2.0 Megapixel Camera with Autofocus

A 2.0 megapixel color digital camera is integrated in some models of the IT-800. With its powerful autofocus feature, this camera can capture high quality images for such tasks as identifying damaged goods, document capture and vehicle license number identification. The capturing of digital images can be incorporated seamlessly into the work-flow of the application without the need to use a separate camera or reconcile images and data records from two different devices. The potential for enhancement to solutions and increases in efficiency are virtually limitless.

Microsoft® Windows Mobile® 6.5

The IT-800 series comes with Windows Mobile® Version 6.5 as the operating platform. Two editions are available: Professional for WWAN models and Classic for other models. This is the latest platform for mobile devices and PDAs and is ideally suited for use as a basis for an enterprise or business solution. Windows Mobile 6.5 brings you the latest enhancements to the PDA user interface, allows efficient handling of various wireless technologies and opens up the possibility to run existing commercially available packages and software for the Windows Mobile family of devices.

Versatile Configurations

An SDIO slot, microSD slot and SIM card slot, all with industry standard specifications, are integrated dependent on the model. A special expansion port on the back of the device allows extra optional devices to be added to create a truly tailored version of the IT-800 to adapt to new and emerging technologies.

HA-H60IO USB Cradle
This optional cradle makes it possible to transfer data and files between IT-800 terminal and a PC via USB interface. It requires the dedicated AC adaptor AD-S42120B.

HA-H62IO Ethernet Cradle
This optional cradle makes it possible to transfer data and files between IT-800 terminal and a PC via USB or LAN connection. It requires the dedicated AC adaptor AD-S42120B.

HA-H30CHG Cradle-type Battery Charger
This optional charger allows a battery pack installed in IT-800 terminal to be charged without dismounting it from the battery compartment. It requires the dedicated AC adaptor AD-S15050B.

HA-D32DCHG Dual Battery Charger
This optional charger allows two pieces of battery pack (either HA-D20BAT or HA-D21LBAT or combined) to be charged at the same time. The dedicated AC adaptor, AD-S42120B, is requited to power the charger. Using single AC adaptor, multiple chargers can be built up to maximum 3 units for concurrently charging 6 battery packs.

QR Codes are becoming commonplace as a tool for marketing, lean manufacturing processes and even replacing RFID applications due to the large amount of data [more than 5000 characters] which can be stored in a QR code. The QR code can also be used where there are space restrictions such as in an envelope window and can be printed as small as 3 sq mm. QR Codes have been used in such applications since the early 1990’s.

ASP has taken all the benefits of QR Code and developed a very innovative solution to assist organisations such as vehicle manufacturers to automate the process of managing Recall letters.

As part of the regulatory process for Recalls, vehicle manufacturers must send their customers a letter outlining the details of the Recall. They also have to note any change in ownership details for these vehicles as well as track “return-to-sender” letters for their audit compliance purposes. The complete process for just one vehicle can take more than two minutes and as there are usually thousands if not tens of thousands of Recall letters, this can amount to a lot of administration time and potential errors.

ASP’s solution can reduce the time from minutes to only a few seconds by scanning a QR code in the window of the envelope and therefore not needing to even open the return to sender envelope.

The solution communicates with the backend system and eliminates input errors caused by manual data entry.


The master data is normally kept in a backend database such as SAP, Oracle, etc and for each recall campaign, a CSV file is usually generated containing all the pertinent details such as VIN number, Customer name and address, Registration number, etc.

The letters are mail merged and printed for mail out.


The information from the inbound letters are updated into the backend database usually via a CSV import file.

The returns are broadly categorised as

2. Multiple Claims

The Multiple Claims letters have the data amendments recorded in a CSV format again and uploaded to the backend database.
